It’s not clear to whom we should be most thankful. Is it Andrea Swenson – the ‘Liberal Librarian’ (pictured below), or is it Mark Federman — the Principal of East Side Community School (6-12th-grade public school) in the Lower East Side of NYC since 2001?
Our students are being introduced to the modern classics in these woke New York schools faster than we think. Take for example the punchy URL listed on the school’s recommended Summer reading. Is it going to take us to a STEM site or a Classic Literature site? I wonder… well here’s one of the URL names “I’m Here, I’m Queer. Now What Do I Read?”. No need to look further I assume.
It shouldn’t be a surprise though, according to the school’s instagram account, the school self-declares itself as being “committed to equity and social justice”. I guess it would only be equitable and socially justifiable to accept the Liberal Librarian’s offer to get in touch and let her know what you think.
